Coming Soon - Summer 2026Why is the map rotated? That's the angle that makes Manhattan's avenues run roughly vertical, so "uptown" actually points up.
Why do some arrival times show a range instead of a single number? Our probabilistic model gives you a confidence interval based on current conditions — we display just one time if the train is probably on-time, and a range of times when a train might be delayed.
Does Third Rail work offline? Your device must be online when the app opens in order to download the latest arrival estimates. Once it's open, however, you can continue to look at ETAs anywhere in the city even if you lose signal.
Which lines are supported? NYC subway lines and the Staten Island Railway. We've got some other transit on the roadmap, though: LIRR, Metro North, and MTA busses.
How much does it cost? Currently free to download.

Where is New Jersey? All map data is stored within the app itself so it's available offline. Unfortunately including New Jersey would have made the app bundle too large. But please keep an eye out for updates — New Jersey may become available as an in-app purchase in a future version.
Will there be an Android version? Perhaps one day!
